️A 65 year old man was detained in Crimea for supporting Ukraine
On May 20, 2025, a resident of Luhansk was detained in Yevpatoria, Crimea, for writing slogans supporting Ukraine in public places.
For several weeks, inscriptions appeared on objects like benches in public places with words such as "Glory to Ukraine". The incidents were investigated by the FSB and Russia's Center E (Center for Combating Extremism of the Ministry of Internal Affairs). Then the suspect was arrested and charged with vandalism.
The man was forced to apologize on camera. This is a modus operandi for russian security forces-- a mode of punishment and public humiliation and threat to anyone who would do the same.
In the Russian system, even words deserve the harshest treatment.
